Setting Up Your Tracker
RTY 2026 Goals
Here is where you can set your INDIVIDUAL goal to be 500, 1,000, 1,500, or the full 2,026 miles in addition to deciding what activity types you want to count toward this mileage goal. You can choose to include biking, swimming, and/or all other types of activity like group exercise classes. You can changeor update this goal at any time during the 2026 Challenge from RTY Goals in the Tracker.
Note: This setting does not apply to your team mileage goal. Any activity that is not a GPS, steps, or miles-based activity can be logged in manually to your tracker using the conversion of 20 minutes of activity = 1 mile.
Privacy
Make your tracker information private so no one can follow you or your team. Your profile is defaulted to private but you can toggle it to public at any time! Simply click the toggle from “no” to “yes” and you are all set. Only team admins will see the toggle to make a team private/public.
Sync Devices
Want to sync with Garmin, Fitbit, Apple, or Strava? Click the appropriate one from the list below for a video to show you how.
There are tutorials in the tracker to show you how to sync each device. Please note Apple Health requires you to download an app called Trackery to relay the miles to the tracker
Global Manual Entry
If you are in more than one RTE Challenge and are manually entering your miles, you can choose to make your manual miles global, meaning that you can enter them in one event and they will go to the others. Simply go to “Manual Entry” and click the toggle to “yes” if you would like your miles to apply to all Challenges. This feature is set to “no” by default.
2. All About Teams, Tracker Attitudes and What Movement Counts
All About Teams
Teams
This year, you can be on a team of up to 100 people for the 2026 Challenge. The best part: you can be on a team and still complete the Challenge on your own. Each person can only be on one team at a time, but you can follow other teams to stay in touch.
Setting Up Your Team
Each team is started by an admin. To start a team, go to the Teams tab in the left-hand navigation, and click “Create a team.” Then, add your team name and invite your team members. They can also find the team with the search function when they sign into the tracker.
Joining a Team
You can do this in two ways. Your team captain can either invite you to the team using the email you used to sign up for the 2026 Challenge or you can find your team and ask to join using the search functionality in the Teams tab.
Setting Up Team Goal
This year, you can complete 10x the original goal of 2,026 miles to accommodate for larger goals and teams! Only the team admin can set your team goal. To change your team goal, go to the Teams tab in the left-hand navigation and scroll down to “Change Team Chutzpah Factor” where you will see a slider to make your goal as much as 20,260 miles. You can change this goal at any time during the 2026 Challenge.
Tracker Attitudes
To add a little motivation to your tracker, we’ve created “attitudes” that will show up in various places throughout your tracker (most notably on your stats page where you will be encouraged and congratulated on your journey). The attitudes will talk to you based on the individual goal you set in the tracker. You have eight attitudes to choose from. For example:
Relaxed Think chill and quiet motivation to keep you going or give you a slight nudge.
Yoda In need of a philosophical slant? Yoda will give you those deep thoughts to help you hit your yearly goal.
Tough Love If you need a kick in the pants look no further. There will be no sugar coating with this attitude!
Positive Want a super upbeat and happy coach? Positive attitude is for you. Lots of sugar and spice and everything nice.

What Movement Counts
You Decide How to Accumalate Miles for YOUR 2026 Year!
Whether your goal is 500 miles or 2,026 miles, whether you run, walk, bike, swim, or just move, we hope the RTY 2026 Challenge motivates you to keep moving all year long.
At the beginning of each year, there is always a spirited discussion in the Facebook group about what counts as miles. Before posting in the Facebook group, we request that any questions about what can be counted towards your RTE 2026 Challenge be directed to us, your friendly neighborhood Run the Edge team. Please email us at info@runtheedge.com and we will answer any and all of your “what counts” questions! Any posts asking about “what counts?” in the group may be taken down if it sparks an unfriendly debate.
In addition to steps and miles, you can also bring in swimming and biking miles separately. Any other type of activity that is not based on miles or steps can be entered manually using the conversion of 20 minutes = 1 mile. This will not sync from a device. It is a manual entry option only.
This is an individual challenge so at the end of they day you are the one that decides what to count and how to count it. If you need any suggestions or guidance for any type of non-traditional or modified activity, we would love to chat with you and help you get set up the way you like.

Any posts or comments that “stir the pot,” attack another group member, ask for money, or self-promote a product or service will be taken down.
Challenge Advice
Advice For First Timers & Experienced Participants
Take it slowly and build up miles when you can! Don’t overdo it by trying to bank extra miles early on. Only get in miles that you are ready for! When life happens, of course, it’s nice to have some extra miles in the bank, but remember this is about getting in the miles you can without comparing yourself to anyone else. Run, walk, bike, or move YOUR year.
No matter when your goal is, be thankful for the miles you’re able to complete. Sometimes life and injuries get in the way that we can’t control, and any miles are good miles. 500 miles is better than 0!
Consistency is key. Try to plan out ways to get in your miles. It can be by registering for races throughout the year, setting a regular time to meet friends to get your miles in, showing up for the local Park Run if you have one, or telling friends and family to hold you accountable by checking in! Try to implement what you know will help to keep yourself motivated.
Participate. Join the Facebook group, post on the Bib Wall, find a partner or local running club, read the newsletter, join a team, or do a Virtual 1-Day event!
This is your race; you’re only racing yourself, so don’t compare yourself to anyone else. The way someone is completing and counting their miles will probably be different than you, but that shouldn’t matter! Remember to have fun and make the best of this experience. ENJOY the miles!
Let’s Do This!
NEED HELP? If you are unable to log in, there was likely a typo in your email address at registration. Please email us at info@runtheedge.com, and we will get you up and running (pun intended) as quickly as possible.
