RUN/WALK 500, 1000, 1500, OR 2,021 MILES IN 2022!

UNLIMITED FITNESS CHALLENGES

VIRTUALLY EXERCISE ACROSS AMERICA!

HOW MANY DAYS IN A ROW CAN YOU EXERCISE?

We Are Run The Edge

Founded by an Olympian & a Psychology Educator

In 2011, Olympian Adam Goucher and educator Tim Catalano teamed up to write the bestselling book Running The Edge.

The book’s mix of personal stories, practical running advice, and motivation to push your own potential made it a bestseller — and pretty soon, Tim and Adam found themselves speaking to audiences all over the country to share the transformational power of running.

Less than three years later, they began producing fitness challenges to help even more people find success, motivation, and fulfillment.

These days, you can find Tim and Adam going head-to-head and racking up miles in the Amerithon challenge… or just hanging around the office in search of snacks.

Taya — Company Pawsident

Favorite Food: Anything dropped on the floor

Paw Size: 2

Claim to Fame: Ears so big, she can navigate by sonar

Taya is an avid runner who also enjoys a good game of Frisbee. She’s fast, friendly, and a fierce defender of the office from UPS trucks and squirrels.

Taya’s important work at Run The Edge includes 1) greeting everyone with a toothy smile followed by a sneeze, and 2) being a reason for the rest of us to go on walks. She’s also participating in the Run The Year 2020 Challenge with her mom and dad.

Laurent Therond — Chief Technology Officer

Favorite Food: WOW! Are you asking me to pick a single dish? I am French, you know! If I really had to eat it daily for the rest of my life, maybe because I crashed on a deserted island...it would be: BREAD! Nothing is better than bread! Apples are close behind, though.

Shoe Size: For regular shoes, it's 9.5. For running shoes, it's 10...cause my dogs like a bit of wiggle room when I make them run.

Claim to Fame: I jumped on the Internet bandwagon when it was something academicians and researchers used to communicate across continents. So, really, it was not a bandwagon at that time! Maybe a small buggy. All I know is that it changed my life.

People often wonder what makes me tick. I think it's curiosity and the vast ocean of knowledge I often peer into, not knowing if I should swim so far away from shore...where I play with my sand toys. But, honestly, from an early age, I have been curious about so many things...and occasionally obsessive about some things.

So, yes, I think this is what defines the essence of who I am.
Otherwise, I have worked in Computer Science and Software Engineering for most of my career. Due to my fortuitous involvement with that Internet thing, I also developed a passion for networking and network programming.

Of course, I like the outdoors, running, eating delicious foods, traveling, reading, watching movies, photography, electronics, space exploration, statistics, MUSIC, wine, tall places, underground places, oceans, wildlife, etc.
And I love my family above ALL.

Adam Goucher — Co-Founder

Favorite Food: Chips and salsa

Adam’s passion for running is tied to his lifelong pursuit of becoming a better husband, father, and friend. As the co-author of Running The Edge and co-founder of Run The Edge, he’s grateful to be able to share what he’s learned with the RTE community.

Sara Heideman — Lead Graphic Designer

Favorite Food: Anything I don't have to make myself.

Shoe Size: 8.5

Claim to Fame:  I have boxes upon boxes of unopened Lord of The Rings action figures in my crawlspace.

Sara is a graphic designer, full time doodler, and avid comic book reader. If you ever want to have a really long, in depth conversation about the X-Men, she's your girl. Growing up a "military brat," she moved all over the world until settling down in Colorado. Though she's not an Olympian, she can be found scrambling around the Foothills and trying to figure out her way around a kettlebell. Sara loves Run The Edge's message of inclusivity and mission to get everyone moving. She's proud to be part of the team.

Tim Catalano — Co-Founder

Favorite Food: Cookies. Any kind of cookies. Seriously, do you have cookies?

Shoe Size: 8.5

Claim to Fame: His hair style

Tim ran for the storied University of Colorado in both track and cross country, helping push the team to a second-place national finish his senior year.

Post-graduation, he taught high school psychology in the United States, Honduras, and Dubai, and coached teenage runners.

Tim’s background in psychology ensures that every Run The Edge  challenge includes multiple types of internal and external motivation.

Tim's first Ultra-marathon was a 100-mile race in Ohio — and he got hooked. He now runs at least one Ultra every year.
