5 Ways to Succeed in a Virtual Fitness Challenge

5 Ways to Succeed in a Virtual Fitness Challenge - Virtual Fitness Challenge Blog | Run The Edge

Have you wanted to try a virtual challenge but didn't know how to motivate yourself? Is the thought of racing without the pomp and circumstance unappealing to you? If these sound like you, then read on! Here are five ways you can succeed at any of Run The Edge's virtual events!

1. Choose the Right Challenge for YOU

Run The Edge offers a huge range of challenges, so we’re sure you’ll find one that suits your personal goals! If you’re looking for something to keep you on track for the long haul, check out Run The Year or Amerithon. If you just want to dip your toes, then Hug A Runner or our Streaker Series would be perfect for you. Remember, you can customize your goals in the longer challenges, so don’t be afraid to tackle something big! You’ll surprise yourself.

2. Join the Online Community

We are extremely proud of the online communities that have come to be an integral part of our challenges. Our facebook groups have cultivated an atmosphere of support, encouragement, and fun since day one! We highly recommend joining up to stay connected, have a place to boast about your goals, and make new friends. Being able to share your success, and especially your failures, will help keep you on track and see how others are tackling a challenge!

3. Involve Your Friends and Family

Two of our challenges offer the option of forming a team, so this is a great excuse to enlist your friends and family to help you rack up the mileage! You can split up the miles between team members (up to 5 in Run The Year and up to 8 in Amerithon) and work together to reach the goal. Forming teams is a great way to stay accountable while also staying in touch with those close to you! The beauty of virtual challenges is that you can do them anywhere, and the virtual teams are no different. You can team up with people from all over the globe!

4. Check the Tracker Regularly

We work hard to make sure our tracker is as motivational as possible, so be sure to pop in and check your progress once in a while! You can earn mileage badges, view your stats, check up on team miles, and watch your own miles accumulate. Seeing how far you’ve come can give you that push you need to keep going on days where you’re just not feeling it. Also, there’s something undeniably satisfying about seeing your journey laid out in stats and accomplishments!

5. Remember That This is YOUR Challenge

Every single one of our challenges is designed to motivate and inspire you, so we encourage all of our participants to make it their own. This is why we do not post leaderboards or foster competition between people on the challenge; you are your only competitor! Our mission is everyone challenged, everyone included, and everyone successful. That means not only choosing a challenge that is right for you, but also adjusting your goals within that challenge to fit your needs! Don’t be afraid to own your challenge. “Your race, your pace” is the motto for all of our virtual events!
